Are you tired of your PC freezing up, lagging, having to reboot time after time after time. Not to mention having to call in a tech at $65+ an hr.

Here are a few things we can do ourselves to help our PC's run better.

1- Defraging- Computers are like filing cabinets. As we use them data is stored a-z but after awhile data is just stored at random.A's get filed in T's, B's get filed in M's and so on and so on.Defraging your system puts everything back where it should be thus allowing the computer to run more effectively, faster and keeping the tech's at bay.Recommended to do at least once a month. Not defragging will freeze your computer up completely forcing you to HAVE TO take it into an expensive tech...

2-DumpTemporary Internet Files- Temp internet files are stored to allow us to get to sites we like more quickly. However this does use up memory thus slowing our computers down...

3-Air spray- Computers are huge dust magnets.the dust inside clogs up fans and computers tend to heat up causing lagging or even crashing...

4- Anti-virus- Surfing the internet is not as safe as it once was.Anti-virus' can be set to automatically scan your system for you as you sleep...

5-Spyware-  As you surf the net  web sites drop Spyware onto your system for multiple reasons. The # 1 reason is to find out what and where you like to go...

1-To Defrag- click start / all programs / accessories / system tools / disk defragmenter / highlight your harddrive and click defrag.(If you are using a screen saver you must turn it off as it interrupts the defrag).

2- Dump Temp Files-Bring up your home page on the internet / click tools at the top of page / click internet options at the bottom / click delete button on browsing history.

3-Air Spray-Pick up a can or 2 of air from any computer store /turn your computer off /  remove side of computer(Don't be afraid to do this you won't hurt anything) / Spray the inside of your computer thoroughly(especially the fans)

4-Anti-Virus-If you use Telus I suggest Telus E-Protect for both your Anti-Virus and your Spyware. If you don't use Telus,  AVG(Free Version) is a great Anti-Virus and its FREE(google AVG and download free AVG)

5-Spyware-For Telus users E-Protect,  for all others I suggest SpyBot(again do a google search and download free version).

Tech's never let us know this stuff when we buy our PC's(if yours did, hang onto them)and these are the easiest things for us end users to do for ourselves to make our computers last longer...

This Weeks Tip on Computers
When buying RAM,insist that the store test your new RAM before you buy it.1 of the biggest scams in computers is to change the date tag on RAM.A bad stick of RAM will take out your mother board(very costly and because you installed the ram they might not warranty anything) .If the store refuses to test it then walk away and buy from a store that will.Every computer store should have a beater PC for testing components.
